Granola bars are a favorite snack for families on the go, but store-bought bars are not as healthy as we’ve been led to believe. When you take a peek at the ingredients on the box, you will see that refined sugar, corn syrup, and unhealthy oils are at the top of the list. While granola bars are heavily marketed towards active children, they don’t contain any of the protein our young athletes need to build muscle and stay healthy.
I love the idea of quick and easy snacks for my busy kids, but packaged granola bars don’t make the cut at my house. To give my kids a healthy option, I set out to make a bar that offered the power of collagen protein, healthy fats, and only natural sweeteners. I also wanted a nut-free version for kiddos who have nut allergies.

Keep in mind, this recipe is very versatile. Similar to how you can create many different versions of protein balls once you have the basics down, you can make a wide variety of granola bars too, so have fun with this!
